Assam CTC teas rule firm at Kolkata auctions

Kolkata, Sept. 11:
This week, the Assam CTC teas met with better demand at firm to dearer rates, according to J. Thomas & Company Private Ltd. Dooars teas followed a similar trend. Tata Tea operated actively with good support from Hindustan Unilever. Other packeteers were selective.

Western India buyers operated for liquoring sorts with selective enquiries from other internal and local dealers. Exporters operated on larger brokens and fannings.
Orthodox dearer
In the orthodox sale, well-made whole leaf and smaller brokens were dearer while the remainder were steady around last levels. CIS and West Asian exporters were active. Hindustan Unilever operated selectively. The local dealers extended some support.
Darjeeling offerings met with improved demand with whole leaf grades selling at firm to dearer rates, particularly plainer sorts. Better brokens and fannings were steady but remainder were slightly lower in line with quality. Improved interest was evinced by traditional exporters. Hindustan Unilever and Tata Tea were active with fair support from local dealers.
