New Delhi, Nov 23 (PTI) The Government today said sales promotion employees have been brought under the purview of Industrial Disputes Act by certain states to ensure their rights.
The West Bengal and Nagaland Governments have amended the Act through state amendments and included the sales promotion employees like medical representatives within the purview of workman under section 2(S) of the said Act, Labour and Employment Minister Harish Rawat said.
He said in the Lok Sabha that his Ministry has also concurred to the proposal of other states like Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Kerala, Meghalaya, Tripura and Punjab for amendment in the Act to include such employees.
To a question on education of children engaged in child labour, Rawat said so far 5.21 lakh children have been mainstreamed into formal education system.
