Recently, at the ‘India Today Conclave’ 2010,where he had the privilege of meeting the great stalwart of Hollywood, director James Cameron,Aamir made a distinct impression on the director. As both are simply the crème la crème of cinema in the East and the west, there was an almost instant liking that the two shared on stage.
The discussion on New Decade Great Expectation was so intriguing, that the audience, present in best finery, and dining on tables with perfect linen and sumptuous food, could not help but get totally engrossed in the discussions.
There is a distinct similarity between the two greats. James Cameron, who is known to make films on non conventional subjects, like ‘Terminator’,’ Titanic’, ‘Avatar’, etc, has sub- consciously fought for the rights of the under privileged or the un cared for, through his films. The director, even said that perhaps, ‘Avatar’, has an under current of the Indian influence in it. He has gained immense success through these off beat subject films.
Aamir Khan, too with films like ‘Laagan’, Mangal Pandey’,’Taare Zameen Par’ etc, has sub consciously fought for the rights of tribals, unsung heroes, and children with some disorders.Even he achieved success with such off beat films. Thus, if the two come together with a project, there’s no stopping them from giving a super duper hit!
