Centre releases Rs 300 cr for rural roads

NEW DELHI, Sept 4 – Days after Assam Governor JB Patnaik met Union Rural Development Minister CP Joshi, his Ministry on Friday released a grant in aid worth Rs 300 crore to Assam.

The released amount is part payment of second instalment of Phase VII for construction of rural roads in Assam under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

The sum is from the special window created in NABARD under RIDF as grants in aid to the Assam State Road Board, Guwahati.

Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is a 100 per cent Centrally-sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in the rural areas of the country.
