The IAS officer accused of sexually harassing a colleague is packed off to Assam and Meghalaya

The IAS officer who brought disrepute to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) by allegedly sexually harassing a colleague, has been repatriated to his parent cadre of Assam and Meghalaya.
V.S. Bhaskar, a deputy director- general in the UIDAI, was accused by S. Padmaja, who works as assistant director general in the same office, of sexually abusing and harassing her in May 2011.
Bhaskar on Wednesday withdrew his petition filed in the Andhra Pradesh HC last week, challenging the Central Administrative Tribunal's (CAT) order on his transfer, after the Planning Commission said it would ask the department of personnel and training to shift him to his parent cadre.

On Padmaja's petition, the CAT had earlier this month directed the Centre and the UIDAI authorities to transfer Bhaskar from the present posting within 15 days.
The officer challenged the CAT order in the high court.
A division bench issued notice to the Commission and the panel had replied through the assistant solicitor-general that it would order the repatriation of the 1985-batch IAS officer immediately.
