MHA asks Garg to join duty in Mizoram

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has taken serious note of the non-compliance of a transfer order by Delhi Police's Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Satyendra Garg and asked him to immediately join duty in Mizoram.

In a letter to Garg, the Ministry's Director (Services) S K Jain said Garg was transferred from Delhi to Mizoram through an order dated September 17 but he has not reported for the new assignment.

"The non-compliance of the transfer order by Satyendra Garg has been viewed seriously by the Ministry. Satyendra Garg now stands relieved with effect from November one and is
therefore directed to report to government of Mizoram without any further delay.

"If he does not obey the order, the Ministry will be constrained to initiate disciplinary action against him under relevant rules," the letter dated November one said.

Delhi Police sources said Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has already spoken to the Home Ministry on the issue and informed them that Garg could not be relieved till mid-
November as there is a shortage of senior officers.

They said Kumar has taken permission verbally from the authorities to retain Garg for some more time.

Garg handles the Traffic wing and there is a shortage of Inspector General rank officers. A senior IPS officer in IG rank transfered to Delhi from Andamans is due to take charge and once it is done, Garg will go to Mizoram, they said.
